Easton Components - Interbike 2009

While Easton had a small booth at the Outdoor Demo they certainly had it stuffed full of arousing bike parts. Inside we take a closer look at their new AM tubeless compatible (and rather light) Haven wheelset. With a magnesium finish and straight pull spokes, the Havens are one eye catching pair of wheels. On top of the trick wheels, Easton also had the Havoc stem and Monkey Lite DH bar out in the dessert, both with new sharp graphics. If that sounds interesting to you then be sure to check out the pictures and video inside!

Easton Haven wheelset
Easton looks to have put together a great package for their new Haven wheelset. The new for 2010 wheelset is aimed squarely at the 6" travel (and less) all-mountain crowd, a demanding category being that it can include so many different challenges. Wheels intended for this have to be stiff and strong, but also reasonably light to boot. The Haven is Easton's answer to all of the above.
• Intended for all-mountain riding
• Sub 1700 gram total weight
• Tubeless rim - no rim strip needed!
• Straight pull spokes
• 21 mm internal rim width (great for 2.3 - 2.5" tires)
• Front wheel can use both 9 mm QR or the newer 15 mm thru-axle
• Rear wheel 10/135 QR
Easton Monkey Lite DH bar
The composite DH bar trusted by more than any other rider seems to have always been Easton's Monkey Lite DH bar. That very handlebar is back for the 2010 season with some graphic changes and the same CNT technology. A full on DH bar with a weight approaching that of a light XC handlebar, the Monkey Lite DH has been one of the most popular composite bars of any of the options out there.
Easton Monkey Lite DH bar
Easton uses Carbon Nano Tube (CNT) composite to build the Monkey Lite DH bar
• New graphics for 2010
• Available in both 25.4 and 31.8 clamp diameters
• 225 grams
• 711 width
• 40 mm rise
• 9 degree sweep, 5 degree upsweep
Easton Havoc stem
The Havoc stem returns for 2010 with new graphics and the same robust build. The Havoc will be at home on anything from a DH bike down to a short travel rig that is built for some abuse. Available in three lengths to suit most ripper's needs, the Havoc is a stiff stem that is built to take any mistreatment you can dish out.
Easton Havoc stem
The Havoc stem is both forged and CNC'd
• Black and white color options
• 31.8 mm handlebar clamp
• 50, 65, 85 mm length options
• 185 grams (50 mm length)
New graphics for 2010

Haven wheelset looks sexy.

When easton is gonna learn and make the damn bar in reasonable length/height. I'd love to still use mine but come on 40mm rise for dh? Syntace will be the first to have over 711mm carbon bar.

Anyone know the internal specifications? degree count? engagement points? pawl engagement system?? Nice aesthetics but if it uses the same 3 pawl engagement system as everyone else, ill go soft.
all that sex appeal and no 20mm frt hub option to run on? why not? maybe fork mfgs are showing a bunch of new 15mm options in vegas. make mine a 20.
I'll take the front in a 20mm option...even 20mm only makes sense at this point and the rear with the option of 135mm x 12mm thru. Oh wait....they don't make either? This wheel-set is OUT!!!!
the haven wheelset is sick looking and the weight is right but why is it labeled all mountain with the current hub options? everybody i know has 6" forks with 20mm TAs on their AM bikes, the only forks that have 15mm TA in my opinion are trail forks. come on easton put a 20mm hub up front then i will consider buying them.
Honestly, did everyone in their styling department die when they went to work on the Havoc stem? HA-VOC NOT-COOL

Everyone that is bitching about not having a 20mm axel option, are morons!! They specifically describe this wheel set as being "aimed squarely at the 6" travel (and less) all-mountain crowd." Look at a fox float 32 150mm fork; it accepts a 15mm axle. Realistically, a 1700 gram, 20mm wheel set, wouldn't hold up to the abuse of a 180mm (20mm axle) fork.
